 REGOLAMENTO DEL CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE DI SANTA CECILIA 2016

                               

 

Il Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia e l’Anlai organizzano il Concorso Internazionale di Liuteria contemporanea “Santa Cecilia 2016” rivolto a liutai professionisti di tutto il mondo.

iscrizioni entro il 31 agosto 2016 e premiazione il 9 ottobre a Roma presso il Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia via dei Greci 18 - esposizione degli strumenti premiati e ammessi ( violini, viola, violoncelli e contrabbassi ) sino al 22 ottobre.

Alla domanda dovrà essere allegata fotocopia o l’originale del documento relativo al versamento della tassa d’iscrizione al Concorso, stabilita in euro 70,00 per strumento

ART. 1

Il Concorso di Liuteria Internazionale Contemporanea “Santa Cecilia” ha la finalità di porre a confronto e di mettere degnamente in risalto quanto di meglio esprime la liuteria contemporanea in tutto il mondo. Esso avrà luogo a Roma e si articolerà in quattro categorie:

a) violino

b) viola

c) violoncello

dontrabbasso

 

ed in due sezioni una delle quali riguarderà gli strumenti antichizzati 

Terminati i lavori della Giuria gli strumenti verranno esposti al pubblico secondo insindacabile giudizio della Giuria medesima. L’esposizione si terrà presso il Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma, esposti dal 10 al 22 ottobre 2016. Per tutto questo periodo gli strumenti non potranno essere ritirati o sostituiti.

ART. 2

Possono partecipare al Concorso tutti coloro i quali esercitano l’attività di liutaio senza distinzione di nazionalità, sesso ed età. Sono esclusi coloro che hanno rapporti di parentela o affinità entro il 4° grado con un giurato o sono stati suoi dipendenti negli ultimi due anni. La domanda di partecipazione dovrà:

 

1. essere spedita entro e non oltre il 30/7/2016 (come risulterà dal timbro data di spedizione

2. essere predisposta secondo il fac-simile che si trova inserito nel presente regolamento

3. essere debitamente compilata, sottoscritta e datata

 

La presentazione della domanda comporta l’accettazione delle norme previste dal presente regolamento.

 

Alla domanda dovrà essere allegata copia attestante il versamento della quota di iscrizione al Concorso di € 70,00 al netto delle spese bancarie per ogni strumento presentato. Il versamento va fatto a mezzo bonifico bancario effettuato a favore dell’economato del Conservatorio.

 

ART. 3

 

La Giuria non ammetterà al Concorso strumenti che:

 

1) presentino caratteristiche di lavorazione meccanica o vernici spruzzate;

2) presentino forme eccentriche, decorazioni, colori o legni che si discostino dalla tradizione;

3) presentino misure anormali. Si precisa che la lunghezza del corpo della viola non dovrà essere inferiore a 400 mm né superiore a 420 mm. e che la lunghezza della corda vibrante per i contrabbassi dovrà essere compresa tra cm 104 e cm 110.

4) con parere scritto e motivato siano unanimemente ritenuti dalla Giuria incompatibili con il livello del Concorso.

 

È lasciata facoltà al concorrente di montare corde che ritiene consone allo strumento in concorso. I contrabbassi dovranno essere montati con corde da orchestra.

Le opere presentate al Concorso dovranno essere assolutamente anonime. Ogni strumento e relativo astuccio o cassetta che lo contiene dovrà essere privo di segni o di elementi atti al riconoscimento o all’individuazione dell’autore. Etichette, eventuali timbri a fuoco, marchi o monogrammi di qualsiasi genere non dovranno essere presenti sulle superfici visibili, interne o esterne, dello strumento. Gli strumenti che non ottemperino a queste disposizioni verranno esclusi dal Concorso

ART. 4

 

La consegna degli strumenti dovrà avvenire presso il Conservatorio S. Cecilia il 1/10/2016 nei seguenti orari: 9-13 e 15-18. Ogni strumento dovrà essere fornito di apposita liberatoria da qualsiasi responsabilità nei confronti del Conservatorio S. Cecilia.

 

La consegna dovrà avvenire a mezzo persona di fiducia dell’autore, la quale figurerà come mittente, o a mezzo Agenzia di trasporti incaricata a svolgere detto servizio entro la data indicata 1 ottobre 2016 . All’atto della consegna, alla presenza del consegnatario, sarà esaminato lo stato di conservazione di ogni strumento. A questo scopo verrà redatto e sottoscritto dagli addetti alla ricezione e dal presentatore apposita ricevuta sulla quale, oltre alla data, verrà indicata l’ora della consegna e la scritta “ORIGINALE”.

 

Nel caso di strumenti recapitati tramite spedizioniere, l’apertura degli involucri verrà effettuata in un secondo tempo alla presenza di tre persone all’uopo incaricate dal Conservatorio S. Cecilia.

 

La ricevuta di cui sopra dovrà essere conservata e restituita al momento del ritiro dello strumento.

 

Si ricorda che gli strumenti provenienti da Paesi extra U.E. dovranno obbligatoriamente essere scortati da carnet ATA. Ogni spedizioniere scelto dai concorrenti dovrà garantire il corretto espletamento delle pratiche relative sia alla consegna che al ritorno dello strumento. Le spese relative alla spedizione ed alla riconsegna sono interamente a carico del partecipante.

 

 ART. 4

 

Gli strumenti consegnati o pervenuti per posta o per corriere devono essere inseriti in contenitori rigidi e riportare all’esterno l’indicazione di un motto o una breve frase scelti dal concorrente . All’interno della custodia dovranno essere contenute due buste contrassegnate dalle lettere “A”e “B”, con lo stesso motto o breve frase scelti dal concorrente per il suo strumento. La busta “A”, che dovrà essere chiusa e sigillata, dovrà contenere:

 

1) i dati anagrafici del concorrente: nome, cognome, data e luogo di nascita, cittadinanza, indirizzo

 

completo dell’autore, data e luogo di costruzione dello strumento;

 

2) breve curriculum vitae del concorrente con due fotografie a colori dello stesso;

 

3) due fotografie a colori formato cm 10x15 riproducenti lo strumento completo visto dalla parte

 

della tavola e da quella del fondo;

 

4) una dichiarazione sottoscritta dall’autore con la quale si autorizza l’Organizzazione a:

 

- riprodurre e divulgare le fotografie, sia quelle dell’autore che dello strumento in questione

 

- divulgare i risultati completi del concorso sia a mezzo stampa che attraverso il sito web del Conservatorio S. Cecilia.

 

La busta “B”, che dovrà restare aperta, dovrà contenere una muta di corde di ricambio uguali a quelle montate sullo strumento.

 

Entrambe le buste dovranno recare un motto o breve testo, scritto in modo chiaro in stampatello Lo stesso testo dovrà comparire, sull’apposito cartellino che il concorrente dovrà provvedere a legare al riccio dello strumento. Ogni strumento dovrà avere un testo o motto diverso.

 

ART. 5

 

La Giuria per la edizione del 2016 è composta dal Presidente, da cinque maestri liutai e da quattro musicisti. Le decisioni della Giuria sono inappellabili.

 

 ART. 6

 

Prima dell’inizio dei lavori della Giuria, si provvederà a far coprire con una busta opaca, sigillata, il cartoncino portante il breve testo identificatore. Ogni busta recherà un numero progressivo che costituirà l’ordine della selezione. La prima selezione avrà lo scopo di eliminare gli strumenti non in regola con il Regolamento del Concorso di cui agli articoli precedenti. La giuria opererà in 2 gruppi separati.

 

 

 

Gli strumenti che non raggiungeranno il punteggio minimo deciso dalla Giuria nella valutazione delle caratteristiche artistico-costruttive non verranno sottoposti alla valutazione acustica, ma potranno ugualmente essere esposti e pubblicati sul catalogo del concorso, ad esclusivo giudizio della Giuria. I punteggi totali determineranno la graduatoria di merito. Gli strumenti che la Giuria riterrà idonei in base al punteggio raggiunto parteciperanno alla prova acustica finale aperta al pubblico, dove lo strumento sarà provato “a solo”. In questa sede la Giuria avrà quindi a disposizione ulteriori punti complessivi. Il totale ottenuto sommando i punteggi della prova finale a quelli delle prove precedenti determinerà i vincitori del Concorso, i 2° e i 3° premi. Al miglior classificato under 30 di tutto il Concorso verrà attribuito il Premio Speciale “Guglielmo dall’Ongaro”. L’elenco degli strumenti ammessi alla prova finale verrà per tempo pubblicato sul sito web del Conservatorio Santa Cecilia attraverso i relativi testi che contraddistinguono gli strumenti stessi. I cartellini con i testi resteranno comunque coperti fino all’esito finale del Concorso.

 

 

 

ART. 7

 

Al termine dei lavori della Giuria e completate le graduatorie, verranno aperte le buste contenenti i nominativi dei liutai partecipanti. I risultati del Concorso verranno pubblicizzati e divulgati alla fine delle selezioni. Tutti i punteggi singoli e complessivi saranno pubblicati sul sito web del Conservatorio Santa Cecilia. Le buste relative agli strumenti non ammessi al Concorso saranno conservate chiuse fino alla pubblicazione degli esiti del Concorso.

 

In occasione della cerimonia di premiazione i giurati saranno a disposizione per incontrare i concorrenti che lo desiderassero.

 

 

 

ART. 8

 

La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà presso la Sala Accademica del Conservatorio S. Cecilia domenica 9/10 alle ore 17 prima del concerto conclusivo con gli strumenti vincitori.

 



 



 

ART. 9

 

Chiusa la Mostra, gli strumenti esposti potranno essere ritirati, unitamente alle corde di ricambio e alla documentazione residua della busta “A”, da coloro che presenteranno l’ORIGINALE della ricevuta di consegna. Gli strumenti dovranno essere ritirati entro 5 giorni dalla data di chiusura dell’esposizione. In caso di mancato ritiro entro il termine di cui sopra, gli strumenti verranno depositati presso l’economato del Conservatorio.

 

 

 

ART. 10

 

Ai fini assicurativi, gli strumenti vengono coperti, a cura del Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia, da polizza assicurativa contro i rischi di incendio, furto e danni. Convenzionalmente viene attribuito il valore di:

 

– € 6.000,00 per ciascun violino;

 

– € 8.000,00 per ciascuna viola;

 

– € 12.000,00 per ciascun violoncello e contrabbasso.

 

L’assicurazione si intende operante dal momento della consegna dello strumento al Conservatorio S. Cecilia fino al suo ritiro o al momento in cui gli strumenti non ritirati verranno depositati presso l’economato del Conservatorio, secondo le disposizioni dell’art. 9.

 

 

 

ART. 11

 

Per tutte le controversie derivanti dall’interpretazione o dall’applicazione del presente Regolamento unico Foro competente sarà quello di Roma.

 

 

 

ART. 12

 

La traduzione nella lingua inglese del presente Regolamento viene fatta unicamente per comodità del concorrente. In caso di controversa interpretazione è valido unicamente il testo italiano. Eventuali richieste di informazioni, nonché la corrispondenza, dovranno essere indirizzate a:

Regulation Santa Cecilia International Competition 2016

 

 

 

Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and ANLAI are hosting the International Violin Making Competition "Santa Cecilia 2016" open to professional luthiers all over the world.

 

 

 

Deadline for applications is August 31st. Prizes will be awarded in Rome on October 9th at the Conservatory - via dei Greci 18 with an exhibition of the participating and winning instruments (violins, violas, cellos and contrabasses) till October 22nd.

 

 

 

The original or a photocopy of proof of payment of the registration fee (70 Euros per instrument) must be attached to the application.

ART. I

 

The International Contemporary Violin Making Competition "Santa Cecilia" aims to showcase the best expressions of contemporary lute making in the entire world. It will take place in Rome and will be divided into four categories:

 

a) Violin

 

b) Viola

 

c) Violoncello

 

d) Contrabass

 

These categories will be further divided into two sections modern and one of which regards antiqued instruments.

 

Once the jury's final decisions are made the instruments will be displayed to the public. The exposition will be held at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia of Rome from the 10th to the 22nd of October 2016. For this entire period the instruments will not be withdrawn or substituted.

 



 

ART. II

 

All luthiers without distinction of nationality, sex and age can participate in the competition. Those who are related to a jury member or who have been employed by a jury member in the last two years are excluded from the competition. The application must:

 

1 - be sent by August 31th 2016 (as indicated by the post-mark)

 

2 - use the form attached below

 

3 - be fully completed, signed and dated

 

The application implies acceptance of the regulations governing the competition.

 

Proof of payment of the registration fee (70 Euros) must be attached to the application. Payment should be made through direct deposit to the Conservatory.

 



 

ART. III

 

The jury will not admit instruments to the competition that:

 

1) show mechanical workmanship or sprayed varnish

 

2) display eccentric forms, decorations, colors or woods that depart from tradition;

 

3) display abnormal measurements. To specify, the length of the body of the viola must not be less than 400mm nor greater than 420mm. The length of the vibrating string for contrabass should be between 104 and 110cm.

 

4) accompanied by a written opinion unanimously held by the jury instruments considered incompatible with the level of the competition.

 

The installation of strings that the competitor feels are appropriate to the instrument is permitted. The contrabasses must have orchestra strings.

 

The works presented to the competition must be absolutely anonymous. Every instrument and the case that contains it must be without signs or elements that could lead to recognition or identification of the author. Any labels, stamps, brands or monograms of any sort must not be presented on the visible surfaces of the instrument. Instruments that do not conform to these rules will be excluded from the competition.

 



 



 



 

ART. IV

 

The instruments should be delivered to the Conservatorio S. Cecilia on first of October 2016 at the following times: 9-13 and 15-18. Every instrument should be furnished with a release form releasing the Conservatorio S. Cecilia from any liability.

 

Delivery should be by a person trusted by the author, which person will appear as the sender. Alternatively delivery can be by a delivery company hired to provide this service by October 1 2016. At the time of the delivery, in the presence of the co-signer, the condition of each instrument will be determined. For this purpose the receiving employees will issue a receipt in which the date and time of delivery will indicated, as well as the word "ORIGINAL".

 

If the instrument is sent through a delivery agency, the package will be opened subsequently in the presence of three persons entrusted to this task by the Conservatorio S. Cecilia.

 

The receipt discussed above must be retained and presented when the instrument is withdrawn.

 

It is to be remembered that instruments coming from outside the E.U. must accompanied by an ATA booklet. Any deliverer chosen by the competitor must ensure the correct carrying out of the practices relative to both delivery and withdraw of the instrument. Expenses relating to deliver and withdraw are entirely the responsibility of the participant.

 

Instruments delivered by mail must be packaged in rigid containers which have on their exterior a motto or brief phrase chosen by the competitor. Inside the case there should two envelopes with letters "A" and "B" written on them as well as the motto or phrase written on the container. Envelope "A" which must be closed and sealed must contain the following:

 

1 - The name, surname, date and place of birth, citizenship, and complete address of the author as well as the date and place of construction of the instrument.

 

2 - A brief curriculum vitae and two color photographs of the competitor.

 

3 - Two 3x10 cm color photographs reproducing the complete instrument seen from the top and the bottom.

 

4 - A signed declaration by the author with which the organization is authorized to:

 

reproduce and distribute photographs but of the author and of the instrument in question

 

distribute the complete results of the competition through the press and the website of the Conservatorio S. Cecilia

 

Envelope "B", that should remain open, must contain a set of replacement strings identical to those mounted on the instrument.

 



 

ART. V

 

The jury for the 2016 competition is composed by the president, five master luthiers, and four musicians. The jury's decisions are final.

 



 



 



 

ART. VI

 

Prior to the start of the work of the jury an opaque, sealed envelope will be provided to cover the tag with the brief identifying text. Every envelope will bear a progressive number that will constitute the order of selection. The first selection will have the aim of eliminate all non-regulation instruments. The jury will work in two separate groups.

 

The instruments that do not reach the minimum number of points established by the jury in their artistic evaluation will not be subjected to an acoustic evaluation, but still may be displayed and published in the catalogue at the jury's discretion. The total points one will determine the rank order. Those instruments that the jury decides have reached the requisite number of points will participate in the final acoustic test open to the public where the instrument will be tested by a "solo". At this point the jury will thus have at its disposition further total points. The total number of points achieved by adding the final score to the previous scores will determine the winners of the competition and the second and third prizes. The special "Guglielmo dall'Ongaro" prize will be awarded to the competitor with the highest score under 30 years old. The list of the instruments admitted to the final competition will be published on the website of the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia through the texts that indicate the instruments themselves. The cards with the texts will in any case remained covered until the final result of the competition.

 

ART. VII

 

At the end of the jury's work and the completion of the ranking, the envelopes containing the names of all the participating luthiers will be opened. The results of the competition will be publicized and distributed at the end of the selection. All the single and total scores will be published on the site of the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia. The envelopes belonging to instruments that are not admitted in the competition will be kept closed until the publication of the results of the competition.

 

During the prize ceremony the jurors will be available to meet with the competitors should they so desire.

 

ART. VIII

 

The prize ceremony will be held at the Sala Accademica del Conservatorio S. Cecilia on Sunday, September tenth 2016 at five o'clock in the afternoon before the concluding concert with the winning instruments.

 

ART. IX

 

At end of the exposition the displayed instruments can be collected, together with the replacement strings and the remaining documentation in envelope "A", by those who present the ORIGINAL receipt of delivery. The instruments must be collected within 5 days from the date of closure of the exposition. In case of failure to collect the instrument with the term stipulated above, the instruments will be deposited at the accounting office of the conservatory.

 

ART. X

 

The instruments are ensured by the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia against, fire, theft and damage. The standard values at which they are assessed are as follows:

 

- 6.000 euro for each violin;

 

-8.000 euro for each viola;

 

-12.000 euro for each violoncello and contrabass;

 

The insurance coverage is active from the moment of delivery of the instrument to the Conservatorio S. Cecilia until its collection or to the time that the uncollected instruments are deposited at the accounting office, as per article 9.

 



 

ART. XI

 

For all controversies deriving from the interpretation or application of the present regulation the only competent jurisdiction will be that of Rome.

 

ART. XII

 

The English translation of this regulation is made exclusively for the convenience of the competitor. In case of any controversy concerning interpretation only the Italian text is valid. Any requests for information, in addition to correspondence, should be addressed to:
